A Rose Angel Within The Rose Posy

A Rose Angel Illustrated by Ethelwynne M Quail, as seen clairvoyantly by Geoffrey Hodson. The Kingdom of the Gods

A posy of roses,
rosebuds softly pink,
all on one stem
reaching above
as an abundant display,
there in their beauty to call forth the day.

Without any fragrance
they grow in this heat
and their gift, I remember,
comes in the following days,
as a subtle fragrance
that does amaze.

I wonder why that may be,
probably, as the temperature here
has reached 43,
so my goodness I am feeling hot now
with thirteen days over 40
in this season so far
I withdraw indoors to my calm within,
as if I were a rose with a treasured scent,
sheltering from the wind
until the milder days came,
then opening my buds
for the butterflies, returning again.
