As I look at you
I know
I believe you are
here to grow,
and as is true of natural
things,
there is a depth
your beauty brings.
There is richness in the
view
I enjoy immensely
when I look at you.
A story there
in your beautiful colour
the iridescent of your red,
your golden heart
so visible to
all of us
who look at you.
And all those years
you stayed in place
when the common Elm tree
took your space,
your light, moisture and
sunshine
and yet you are
just so divine.
Years and years of staying
there
and then they made a parking
lot,
the Elm tree went,
the ‘big rains’ came
and your Deva is dancing
again.
What I see
when I look at you
is how ‘surrender’ guides us through
some big challenges along
the way
and yet, in the mist today
now here you are,
my cherished, Camellia.
(Written on August 11, 2013
in the misty morning with a single red Camellia)
